A fictional approach to exploring the potential of personal memories. What was your first memory? You’ll come to the conclusion that this question isn’t easy to answer definitively. There are certainly memories you can consciously recall. This is because these memories have been retrieved multiple times and shared with others. Perhaps in the form of a picture in a photo album or as a story in a conversation. But often memories are recalled unconsciously. To activate entire memory networks, often only a small trigger is needed. This could be a song, a scent, or a taste. The way we store and access memories reveals their complex nature — fluid yet persistent, elusive yet foundational. Memories are dynamic and simultaneously the foundation of our identity. They shape what we think about ourselves and the world, anchor us in time, and enable our imagination. But what happens when we suddenly can no longer remember? Do we lose what makes us who we are? The artist Julia Lothner focused on preserving memories and developed a new archiving method by storing her personal memories in her works based on her invented graphene water emulsion. Through touching her works, her memories become multisensorially accessible to others.
The posthumous discovery of her legacy initiated a discourse between art and science and enabled further research approaches in trauma therapy. On the occasion of Lothner’s retrospective at the MdbK Leipzig, the publication Floating Memories in the Water Lily Pond was released. The publication presents the first systematic analysis of the theoretical implications of her work and technology.

The artist book From The Archive was published for the first time, presenting a selection of scanned visual material from her studio. Structured as a loose-leaf collection, it invites the viewer to engage with the material in a non-linear way, echoing the fragmentary and reconfigurable nature of memory. The publication serves both as an artwork and as an archive, blurring the boundaries between documentation, fiction, and artistic practice.

Vertigo is a visual reader that shows the historical transformation of our perception and explores the shift of perspective in old and new media. Optical illusions play a central role in challenging our senses. They show how easily our brains can be fooled by visual tricks and give us a new perspective on reality. The book is split in two and contains a twist/tilt moment in the middle so that the publication can be read from both directions. While the first part of the book presents the historical development of perspective and shows pictures of different types of illusions, the second part contains a colorful collection of unusual and funny optical illusions from the Reddit universe. The book is both an informative collection on the topic of sensory illusion and a humorous homage to the phenomenon of perspective shifting in modern times. It invites readers to discover and wonder, and sometimes they won’t be able to believe their eyes.

Booklet about Deborah Ann Harry, better known as Debbie Harry. A collection of unknown stories about her as a musician, actress, fashion icon and activist. And how she stirred up the punk and new wave scene as a woman in the 1970s. The vinyl sticker contains the content structure of the publication. In addition, the purple inner cover forms a frame and contains a square poster.

The question arises as to whether time actually exists or whether it is just a state of change. This philosophical consideration leads us to the realization that time may not exist as an independent entity, but is rather a construct resulting from the state of change. The photo series shows the model in a mixture of blue and black and white images. The arrangement is not chronological, but allows viewers to travel through the time of the photo shoot while experiencing the timelessness of the outfit. Inspired by a Renaissance doublet and combined with lightweight sports trousers in a contemporary cut, the outfit unites different eras of history and brings it into the present day. A fusion of past and present, captured in a single moment. In the moment of change.

Have you ever thought about the different forms of support within a community? For me, these are the most important requirements for any collaborative process. I firmly believe that these components play an important role for us as designers. It is essential to build mutual trust, to respect each other, to share knowledge in order to find new opportunities together and to support shared learning. We cannot underestimate how important these aspects are in today's fast-paced world.
